What a WhatsApp QR code does
A WhatsApp QR code does the same job as a WhatsApp link, but for the physical world.
The person points their camera, taps the notification, and a chat with you opens. Your opening message is already written.
Put it on a business card, a flyer, a shop window, a trade show stand or the last slide of a talk.
How to create it
Pick your country code and type your number as usual. The tool removes the leading zero and the spaces.
Add a pre-filled message if you want to know where the contact came from. "Hi, I saw you at the trade show" is enough.
The QR code changes with every keystroke. When it looks right, download it.
PNG or SVG
PNG is a regular image, 1024 pixels wide. It works for a story, a post or a document.
SVG is a vector drawing. It stays sharp at any size, which matters for a poster or a banner. It is the format your printer will prefer.
So it always scans
Keep the QR code black on a white background. A light code on a dark background is read by fewer phones.
Leave a white margin all around. The tool adds one, do not crop it.
On paper, aim for at least 2 centimetres per side for close-range scanning. The further away it will be read, the bigger it must be.
The longer the pre-filled message, the denser the code. A short message gives a code that is easier to read.
Always scan it with your phone before printing anything.
