Connect Instagram
Updated 28 October 2026
Connecting Instagram takes two minutes and only happens once: your history then comes in on its own. This guide covers the cases that can slow you down, and how to get past them.
Before you start: a professional account
Use a professional Instagram account (Business or Creator). On a personal account, Instagram only shows a small part of your conversations, and Kord won't be able to work with them. Switching is free and takes thirty seconds in your Instagram settings.
Then you enter your Instagram username and password. Your credentials are only used to log you into Instagram, they travel over an encrypted connection, and Ficiel never stores them.
The verification code
If your account has two-factor authentication, Instagram sends you a code. Ficiel tells you where it arrives whenever Instagram says so:
- by text message;
- on WhatsApp;
- in your authentication app.
You have 5 minutes to enter the code. If nothing comes, a link under the field lets you get it by text or ask for a new one. Every send creates a new code: always enter the latest one.
Not sure where Instagram sends your codes? Check in Instagram: Settings > Accounts Center > Password and security > Two-factor authentication.
Sometimes Instagram doesn't ask for a code but for an approval in its app: open Instagram on your phone and confirm it's you.
Unusual login
Even without two-factor authentication, Instagram can flag the login as unusual and send a code. It goes to the email or phone number of your Instagram account, not necessarily the ones you gave Ficiel. Check your spam folder too. The "Resend the code" button asks for it again.
Right after, you'll also get a login alert from a new device. That's normal: Kord connects from our servers, not from your phone. Confirm it, otherwise the connection gets cut after a few minutes. In the first few days, Instagram may still send you a security message: that's expected, and apart from confirming the login there's nothing to do.
When Instagram slows the connection down
Instagram sometimes refuses the connection through the usual route for a while. Ficiel tells you so, and offers to finish through the secure page right below: it takes another route, and you keep your sign-up. Avoid retrying over and over: every extra attempt is seen by Instagram.
Connection country
Your session connects from a specific country. Ficiel prefills it from your connection. If you use a VPN, pick the country where you actually live. On the sign-up screen, a line under the button shows this country, with a "Change" link.
Once the account is connected, the country is set. To change it later, write to us.
"Finish connecting another way"
If you're stuck (code refused twice, a check that can't be done here, like a robot test or a phone number to add), Ficiel puts the fallback up front: "Finish connecting another way", which opens a secure page. You finish connecting there directly, and your code is asked again if needed. On that page, your session connects from the country you're in: turn off your VPN first.
In short
- A professional account is required to see your history, and Ficiel never stores your password.
- The code comes from Instagram: text, WhatsApp or authentication app, with 5 minutes to enter it.
- Stuck? Don't keep retrying, use "Finish connecting another way".
